From 31st october till 20th decemder 2009 Kiev, PinchukArtCenter, Krasnoarmejskaya / Bassejnaja street 1 / 3 - 2 The exhibition of nominees for the PinckukArtCenter Prize The pinchukArtCenter Prize - the first private national Ukrainian prize in the field of arts with the purpose of creation, support and development of the new generation of the young Ukrainian artists working in field of contemporary art. The prize was established by the PinchukArtCenter and awarded to the best Ukrainian artists up to the age of 35, once every twoo years, since 2009. The first project by the SYN group "Photosynthesis" became one of twenty nominees of the PinchukArtCenter Prize. The exposition of photos from the "Photosynthesis" series The participants of SYN group were designed acrylic light-boxes with special internal illumination and a digital photo print on transparent film. One of the six light-boxes was placed on the floor to allow the viewers to see the photograph on both sides. While examining the photo, the viewer subconsciously participated in a ritual of worship. One of six photos was printed without reflection and placed in a horizontal position, opening a way and the concept. Owing to the spatial minimalism and the soft light, each viewer is plunged into a process of reconsideration of spiritual experience of ancient civilizations, reviving in memory subconscious images of the architecture of the Creator. The beckoning mysterious music of the composer Zavoloka, created especially for the project "Enlightenment", was heard from the next room, and strengthened the effect of the concept in the created meditative atmosphere. www.photosynthesis.com.ua

The laser installation "Enlightenment" "Enlightenment" - was the second project of SYN group, created especially for an exhibition within the frames of the PinchukArtCenter Prize. The final room of the 4-th floor of the art-center, equipped with system of volumetric sound Dolby surround 5.1, was filled with the sound of the 30 minutes track by composer Zavoloka - a synthesis of a voice and breathing through digital filters, the beating of a heart, of atmosphere and space, non-melodic harmonies, organic micro pulsations of noises, and a series of bells. A looped rotation of a glass «Fanta» with a laser directed on the relief, symbolizes the scientific idea of several centuries - from the first mechanical recordings of sounds in a music box in the XVI century up to the laser - one of the most significant inventions of XX century. The projection represents a point which grows and develops, creating volumetric abstractions, keeping the spectator transfixed for a long time on a couch in a dark room. Laser installation of SYN group plunges spectators into contemplation of the other side of reality, and has become the most visited exposition of the PinchukArtCenter Prize.
